EDUCATION

Doctorandus degree (~M.Sc.), Rijksuniversiteit Leiden, The Netherlands, 1967
Doctors degree (Ph.D.), Rijksuniversiteit Leiden, The Netherlands, 1973

RESEARCH INTEREST

Microtectonics (cleavages; relation porphyroblast growth - deformation phases; kinematic indicators in mylonites)
Tectonic evolution of the Scotia Arc (structural and metamorphic analysis of the Scotia metamorphic complex and related units)
Tectonic evolution of the southern border of the São Francisco craton (SE Brazil) (mapping 1: 50.000; structural and metamorphic analysis)

RESEARCH PROJECTS

ü
"Modeling and utilization of natural kinematic indicators in rocks"; this binational project is currently co-ordinated by me (brazilian side) and by Prof. Dr. Cees Passchier from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität, Mainz, Germany

ü
"Study of the deformation and the metamorphism of the Scotia metamorphic complex"; this is a brazilian project in West Antarctica, co-ordinated by me.

ü
"Study of the tectonic and paleoenvironmental evolution south of the São Francisco craton, in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro"; this is an on-going project of our department, involving students and other professors.
